Netregistry and Online Growth Solutions Ltd have acquired a controlling interest in TPP Internet, increasing the Group’s leading market share of the .au domain sector to over 31%.

The TPP Internet deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions that recently saw MD Web Hosting join the Online Growth Solutions Ltd Group in August. “This deal further cements our No. 1 position in the Australian domain name market. In under 7 years we have overtaken the ex-monopoly” explained Larry Bloch, CEO of Online Growth Solutions and Netregistry. “We are 10% points clear of our nearest competitor and 20% ahead of the number 3 player.”

Chris Collinge continues as CEO of TPP. “In the short term TPP customers will not notice any changes. It’s business as usual. However, I am excited by the opportunity to further enhance the excellent service TPP provides. As part of this market leading group we have greater access to resources and products to deliver to our business customers” explained Collinge.

Says Bloch: “In the longer term we will provide additional ancillary services across all our brands to provide a more complete online service. Business owners need an online business services champion to make access to the best online technologies and ideas as clear, simple and productive as possible. We believe we are that champion and will continue to cement that position.”

As the hosting demands of businesses grow larger and more complex, Bloch believes many are turning to larger, established providers. “Many smaller web hosts can’t compete with the kind of scalable, high tolerance infrastructure we offer. The web is evolving incredibly fast and Infrastructures need to evolve with it. Keeping up with that requires a great deal of investment, forward planning and constant growth.”

Bloch believes that the success and growth of OGS is tightly linked to the achievements of customers served by the various brands in the group. “Despite the Global Financial Crisis,

Online Growth Solutions saw EBITDA growth of over 40% for the ’09 financial year”, continued

Bloch. “Online business has remained strong throughout the year for our customers and, by extension, us. This reinforces research early in 09 that showed business confidence online did not fall nearly as dramatically as it did offline.”

Bloch revealed that OGS is continuing to look for further acquisitions, securing its hold as Australia’s leading webhost and domain registrar. “If you have thousands of domain and hosting customers, I would be interested to hear from you,” says Bloch. “However, our focus is shifting towards the next phase of our strategic plan: to grow the range of business management services we provide to our 300,000 active Australian business customers.”
