Australia’s biggest small business festival seek Victorian retailers

Marketing opportunities abound for savvy Victorian retailers, courtesy of Australia’s biggest small business festival taking place across the state this August.

Victoria’s Small Business Festival features hundreds of exciting business events taking place 1-31 August and is aimed at anyone interested in starting, running or building a small business.

The retail sector is a particular focus for the 2011 festival program. With around $62 billion in sales generated by retailers per annum[2] in Victoria alone, the importance of the retail sector to the State’s economic health is obvious.

There are many opportunities for Victorian retail businesses to attend festival events. There are also some unique marketing opportunities available to retail businesses in the form of getting involved in some of the festival feature events.

The Small Business Heroes Exhibition – The Retailers is a unique photographic exhibition that will feature colourful images and inspiring stories of small business people who are achieving success in their retail enterprise.

Victorian-based retailers can nominate themselves or be nominated by others to be considered for inclusion in the 2011 exhibition. The business needs to have been established for at least 12 months and the owner able to demonstrate why their retail business is innovative or interesting enough for them to be selected as a ‘Retail Hero’.

The Small Business Heroes Exhibition – The Retailers, will be held in The Atrium, Federation Square, Melbourne on 5-14 August and in Central Square Shopping Centre, Ballarat 16-23 August. Nominations close on 14 June.

Regional Shopping and Destination Fair – For regional retailers interested in displaying their goods and services in Melbourne, the festival’s upcoming one-day Regional Shopping and Destination Fair at Federation Square provides the perfect marketing opportunity.

The fair will showcase the work and wares of retailers from across regional Victoria, as well as providing opportunities for direct sales to the public. It is a unique, cost-effective marketing opportunity for regional retailers interested in making sales and promoting their business direct to a metropolitan Melbourne audience.

The Regional Shopping & Destination Fair will be held on Friday, 12 August 2011 from 10am to 3pm at The Atrium, Federation Square, Melbourne. Stallholder applications close on 1 July.
